Safety Through Education - Program Details

The Safety Through Education Intervention Program is a 72-hour residential program certified by the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services (Program Sequence #10449). You have the option to attend this program instead of serving three (3) days in jail.

The program is an alternative to incarceration for persons who have been arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or any drug of abuse. Safety Through Education helps individuals recognize the seriousness of DUI and the need to change their drinking and driving practices. Safety Through Education accomplishes this through education and referral services. The ultimate goal of the program is to help reduce the amount of DUI cases in the community by promoting safety through education.

Since driver intervention is mandated by the legal system, the program has guidelines/rules that must be enforced. To view the list of guidelines and rules please click on Program Guidelines/Rules at the top of the page. Noncompliance with Safety Through Education's guidelines/rules may result in discharge from the program and your return to the court for appropriate action. Please review the program guidelines/rules and ask questions. Safety Through Education staff will explain these guidelines/rules during the orientation on Thursday evening. Also please note the staff has discretion to administer alcohol and drug tests, i.e. breathalyzer, urinalysis, during the weekend program. Testing positive will result in your discharge from the program.

Program Fees (Non-Refundable)
The non-refundable program fees are $280/triple occupancy, $395/double occupancy, or $550/single occupancy. Register early to guarantee your preferred room arrangement.
